| Soup sales are
great fundraiser for your entire church family to participate in. They
work best during the fall, winter, and early spring months when the
weather is cooler. Here are some great suggestions for having a successful
"Soup Sale." The most successful and
remembered events are well organized, well prepared, and
have a fun theme, which helps people remember your event.
Let's take a look at these 3 important factors.
Having a fun theme:
-This of course is optional, but if at all
possible, have a fun theme. This adds so much to your fundraising
Soup Sale event at church.
Once you have picked a theme, buy or make place setting, table covers,
center pieces, and decorations to match. This does not have to be
costly. Let's say your theme was "Soups on the Ark." You could have
the children in the church color rainbows and put them on the walls, you
could use all different color cups, plates, etc to represent the rainbow. You could make a
large rainbow out of different color fabrics on a large wall or have
people walk under the fabric rainbow as they enter the dinning hall. Ask
members of your church to bring in stuffed animals of all sizes and
display them somewhere. Your main server or the people collecting the
money and tickets could dress up like biblical characters.
-The ideas are endless. Perhaps an
Autumn theme, Winter theme, Snowflake theme, Camping theme, Pirates theme,
Garden of Eden theme, Fiesta theme, etc.
-Have an area, perhaps a small corner near
the drink table to do a display of your theme. Just use your imagination.
If you are doing a Garden of Eden theme, one could have greenery all
through out the table with apples here and there. Offer apple juice and
apple cider to drink. Have your members bring in plants and put them all
in that area. Have children bring in stuffed animals to put near the
plants, representing the Garden of Eden.
-Don't forget to have music playing softly
in the background, hopefully music relating to your theme.
Being Organized:
-Begin with a committee of 3 or 4 people to
organize your event. Each person on the committee will be in charge of
getting their own volunteers to do what ever job they are in charge of.
-Set up tables in your church dinning hall.
Set the tables with table covers, bread & butter, and appropriate
silverware.
-Have a separate table offering different
beverages for the guest. (This way, they can go and get their own drinks
without standing in the soup line.)
-Ask church members, or small groups in
your church to donate soups, rolls, butter, drinks, etc...
-Have plenty of small monies on hand for
change.
-Make sure weekly announcements are made
about the soup sale and perhaps posters made. If you are having this
event for a specific fund, then say so. "Soup Sale to Benefit New
Children's Choir Robes."
-Have someone very pleasant as your greeter
handling the tickets and/or money, and thanking each and every person who
came to your soup sale.
Being Well Prepared:
-Make sure you have PLENTY of soup, and
a nice variety of soups to offer.
-Have the tables set the night before.
-Have the room decorated the night before.
-Make sure you have plenty of help in the
kitchen.
-Offer "Take out" for people who are busy
and can't stay in and eat. Have plenty of plastic containers with lids for
your take out. |
